NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE CITY OF PILOT POINT, TEXAS CONCERNING THE USE OF PUBLIC PARKLAND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

The City Council of the City of Pilot Point (%u201CCity%u201D) will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pilot Point City Hall, 102 East Main Street, Pilot Point, Texas to consider the use of dedicated public parkland for the following purposes:  Approval of a project involving the change in use of Allen Groff Park for use as Athletic Fields, Future High School, access drives, parking lots and other necessary buildings and improvements. (Such uses are contingent on approval by the Pilot Point Independent School District (%u201CISD%u201D).) This property is situated at:   1600 North Washington St., Pilot Point, TX.  The City intends to no longer use Allen Groff Park as a park or recreation area but seeks to sell and/or exchange this property with the Pilot Point ISD, as approved by the City and the ISD. The public hearing will be to consider (a) whether there is no feasible and prudent alternative to the permanent use or taking of Allen Groff Park for the construction of facilities by the ISD; (b) whether the project includes all reasonable planning to minimize harm to Allen Groff Park, as a park, recreation area, scientific area, wildlife refuge, or historic site, resulting from the use or taking; and (c) City%u2019s approval of the project.

 

The Public Hearing will be part of a scheduled meeting of the City Council of the City of Pilot Point, Texas. A site plan showing the proposed uses of Allen Groff Park may be viewed online at www.cityofpilotpoint.org, and will also be available at the public hearing.
