About the Open Records Act

"The Public Information Act, formerly known as the Open Records Act, is located at chapter 552 of the Government Code. The Act provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. It also provides for instances in which governmental bodies wish to, or are required by law to, withhold government records from the public." (Texas Attorney General website).

Please note: Letter, legal, and 11 inches by 17 inches sized documents are $0.10 per page. Larger format items, such as site plans, will be sent out for reproduction and billed at cost. If you wish to review the documents at our office prior to requesting copies, please indicate that you like to set up an appointment on the form.

Request for Peace Officers Crash Report

The Pilot Point Police Department adheres to the requirements of Chapter 550.065 of the Texas Transportation Code regarding the release of crash report information and any fees charged. Upon written request and payment of required fees, the department will provide a copy of the crash report.

Fees

Services may be paid by cash, check, or money order. Make check or money order payable to the City of Pilot Point. Do not send cash.

You may also purchase a copy of the Peace Officers Crash Report through Texas Department of Transportation by going to TxDOT Crash Report Online Purchase System Website 

Cost and Ordering

$6.00 for a regular copy         $8.00 for a certified copy - A certified copy is request when a person needs an official document, such as for for a legal proceeding. 

Ordering a Crash Report by Mail 

If you are unable to use the Crash Report Online Purchase System, you may purchase a copy of a Texas Peace Officer's Crash Report (CR-3) by completing the appropriate request form and mailing it with the required payment to the address shown on the form.
